Detection of Complement Component C1qA in Human Placenta. Complement Component C1qA was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of Human Placenta using Rat Anti-Human Complement Component C1qA Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB4035) at 1 µg/mL for 1 hour at room temperature followed by incubation with the Anti-Rat IgG VisUCyte™ HRP Polymer Antibody (Catalog # VC005). Before incubation with the primary antibody, tissue was subjected to heat-induced epitope retrieval using VisUCyte Antigen Retrieval Reagent-Basic (Catalog # VCTS021). Tissue was stained using DAB (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to endothelial cells in cytotrophoblast in chorionic villi. Background: Complement Component C1qA

C1qA, one of three subunits of complement component C1q, contains a collagen-like domain and a globular C1q domain. Within the globular domain, human C1qA shares 73% and 77% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat C1qA, respectively. Six disulfide-linked heterodimers of C1qA and C1qB associate with three disulfide-linked homodimers of C1qC to form C1q. Deficiency in C1qA is associated with the development of autoimmunity.
