* Provided that the recommended microplates, buffers, diluents, substrates and solutions are used, and the assay is run as summarized in the Assay Procedure provided.

This DuoSet ELISA Development kit contains the basic components required for the development of sandwich ELISAs to measure natural and recombinant human LBP. The suggested diluent is suitable for the analysis of most cell culture supernate samples. Diluents for complex matrices, such as serum and plasma, should be evaluated prior to use in this DuoSet ELISA.

Background: LBP

Lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP), a 58kDa glycoprotein synthesized in hepatocytes, belongs to a family of lipid-binding proteins that includes bactericidal/permeability increasing protein (BPI), phospholipid ester transfer protein (PLTP), and cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP). LBP binds to the lipidA portion of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to facilitate the process of LPS monomerization, catalyzes the binding of LPS monomers to CD14, and promotes LPS-induced immune response.

Long Name:
Lipopolysaccharide-binding Protein
Entrez Gene IDs:
3929 (Human); 16803 (Mouse)
Alternate Names:
LBP; lipopolysaccharide binding protein; lipopolysaccharide-binding protein; LPS-binding protein; MGC22233

Human LBP DuoSet ELISA
By Anonymous on 06/09/2020
Application: Sample Tested: Serum and Plasma

We used this kit to quantify the LBP in human serum and plasma samples. Works very well and generates a good standard curve.

Human LBP DuoSet ELISA
By Anonymous on 01/23/2020
Application: Sample Tested: EDTA Plasma

Performance and reproducibility of the kit are very good (see graph attached). Also, very good customer service and fast shipment.

On the downside, the protocol is tricky to undstand. The information to perform the test is spread on three documents (the protocol, the certificate of analysis and the list of materials), so that pooling this information gives you quite the extra work.
