Detection of Somatostatin R5/SSTR5 in HEK293 Human Cell Line Transfected with Human SSTR5 and eGFP by Flow Cytometry. HEK293 human embryonic kidney cell line transfected with either (A) human Somatostatin R5/SSTR5 or (B) irrelevant transfectants and eGFP was stained with Mouse Anti-Human Somatostatin R5/SSTR5 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB4448) followed by Allophycocyanin-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # F0101B). Preparation and Storage

Background: Somatostatin R5/SSTR5

Somatostatin Receptor type 5 (SSTR5) is one of five 7-transmembrane G-protein-coupled receptors for somatostatins 14 and 28. Within the extracellular portions, human SSTR5 shares 65% and 68% aa identity with mouse and rat SSTR5, respectively. It is expressed in adult pituitary, heart, small intestine, adrenal gland, cerebellum and fetal hypothalamus. It is an inhibitory receptor that transduces the antiproliferative and antisecretive effects of somatostatins.
