The common beta chain, also known as CD131, is a transmembrane protein that associates with the ligand-specific IL-3 R alpha, IL-5 R alpha, or GM-CSF R alpha proteins to form high affinity receptor complexes. beta c is expressed on a variety of hematopoietic cells.
