Detection of Human Aurora B by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of HEK293 human embryonic kidney cell line, HeLa human cervical epithelial carcinoma cell line, and A20 mouse B cell lymphoma cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Human Aurora B Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF4006) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF017). A specific band was detected for Aurora B at approximately 40 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted using Immunoblot Buffer Group 1.

Background: Aurora B
Aurora B, a serine/threonine protein kinase, is a key regulator of the onset of cytokinesis and chromosome segregation. Phosphorylation of Histone H3 at Ser 10 and Ser 28 by Aurora B contributes to chromosome number instability and mitotic chromosome condensation. In addition, Aurora B phosphorylates MCAK (mitotic centromere-associated kinesin) on Ser 92 and this inhibits MCAK’s microtubule depolymerizing activity. Aurora B localizes to kinetochore fibers during chromosome movement and segregation.
