Western blot shows lysates of LNCaP human prostate cancer cell line and HeLa human cervical epithelial carcinoma cell line. PVDF Membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Human NOMO Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF3755) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF019). A specific band was detected for NOMO at approximately 130 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8.

Background: NOMO

NOMO, also known as pM5, is a 130 kDa type I membrane protein with no recognizable functional motif. It is a binding partner of Nicalin, a nicastin-related protein. The Nicalin/NOMO complex is localized in the ER and functions as an antagonist for Nodal and Activin signaling. Three copies of the NOMO gene, encoding NOMO isoforms 1, 2 and 3 have been described. The extracellular domains (ECD) of the isoforms share 99% amino acid sequence homology. The ECD of human and mouse NOMO also share 94% amino acid sequence homology.
