Western blot shows lysates of rat eye tissue. PVDF Membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Mouse Angiopoietin-like Protein 7/ANGPTL7 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF4960) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF019). A specific band was detected for Angiopoietin-like Protein 7/ANGPTL7 at approximately 45 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8.

Background: Angiopoietin-like Protein 7/ANGPTL7

Angiopoietin-like Protein 7 (ANGPTL7), also known as cornea-derived transcript 6 (CDT6), is a secreted 45 kDa protein that contains a coiled-coil domain (aa 30‑110) and a fibrinogen-like domain (aa 113‑334). ANGPTL7 is expressed in the stromal layer of the cornea, and it forms disulfide-linked homotetramers. It contributes to corneal morphogenesis by suppressing angiogenesis and promoting the deposition of extracellular matrix components. ANGPTL7 is up-regulated in glaucoma and accumulates in the aqueous humor. Mature mouse ANGPTL7 shares 88% and 98% sequence identity with human and rat ANGPTL7.

  • Q: This product says it can only be used with mouse so why does the picture say it was used in rat?

    A: AF4960 is manufactured by our sister company, R&D Systems. The antibody was tested against rat lysate by Western blotting, however rat has not been listed as a validated species since a full range of tests with rat samples have not yet been performed.
