Specificity

Detects rat Reg3B in direct ELISAs and Western blots. In direct ELISAs, approxmately 75% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse (rm) Reg3B, and approximately 20% cross-reactivity with rmReg3G is observed, and less than 2% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) Reg3A, rmReg1, rmReg2, rhReg4, rhReg1A, rmReg3A, and rmReg3D is observed. In Western blots, approximately 40% cross-reactivity with rmReg3B is observed.

Background: Reg3B

Rat Reg3B, also named pancreatitis-associated protein 1, Regenerating islet-derived protein 3-beta and peptide 23, belongs to the Regenerating gene family (Reg), within the superfamily of C-type lectins. It has been classified as a member of the type III subclass of the Reg family. Rat Reg3B has anti-apoptotic effects on pancreatic acinar cells and is a novel motor and sensory neuron survival factor.
