Background: IL-6

IL-6 is a potent lymphoid cell growth factor that stimulates the growth and survivability of certain B cells and T cells. IL-6 plays a role in host defense, acute phase reactions, immune responses, and hematopoiesis. IL-6 is expressed by T cells, B cells, monocytes, fibroblasts, hepatocytes, endothelial cells and keratinocytes.

FAQs for IL-6 Antibody (AP-MAB0847) - Azide and BSA Free

Showing  1 - 2 of 2 FAQs Showing All
  • Q: For the IL-6 antibody (NBP1-06663) made in rat, what antigen retrieval I should use?

    A:

This antibody has only been validated in IHC-Fr. If using this in IHC-P, we are not sure it will work. Since IL-6 is a secretory protein and can briefly exist inside the cells Uniprot, IHC indeed can detect its signals Protien Atlas. Although the above protein atlas website is for human proteins, similarity among high mammals renders that mouse IL-6 can be detected with HIER pH6 (citrate buffer) if this antibody is used in IHC-P (the antigen retrieval methods are heavily depending on the biological/physiological/histological properties of the protein; irrelevant to the antibody).

  • Q: I was wondering if you know of any blocking antibodies against IL-6 or VEGF-C that can be used in cell culture to quench these cytokines?

    A:

We have no antibodies that are currently known to show blocking antibodies to VEGF-C. Please see this link to our IL-6 antibodies with blocking/neutralizing activity can be found at this link.
