Detection of Human Fatty Acid Synthase/FASN by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of HepG2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Human Fatty Acid Synthase/FASN Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5927) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF019). A specific band was detected for Fatty Acid Synthase/FASN at approximately XXX kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8.

Background: Fatty Acid Synthase/FASN
Fatty Acid Synthase; also FAS or FASN) is a cytosolic member of the short chain dehydrogenase/reductase family 27X. It is found as an antiparallel homodimer in neurons, skeletal muscle, adipocytes and hepatocytes. FASN catalyzes the formation of palmitic acid from acetylCoA or malonylCoA, and also likely mediates the transfer of fatty acids to peptides.
