Detection of Reduced Folate Carrier/SLC19A1 in HEK293 Human Cell Line Transfected with Human Reduced Folate Carrier/SLC19A1 and eGFP by Flow Cytometry. HEK293 human embryonic kidney cell line either (A) transfected with human Reduced Folate Carrier/SLC19A1 or (B) irrelevant transfectants and eGFP was stained with Mouse Anti-Human Reduced Folate Carrier/SLC19A1 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB8450) followed by Allophycocyanin-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # F0101B). Quadrant markers were set based on control antibody staining (Catalog # MAB003).

Background: Reduced Folate Carrier/SLC19A1
SLC19A1, also known as, Reduced Folate Carriers, is a transmembrane transporter that is involved in the regulation of intracellular concentrations of folate. There is an association between idiopathic recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) and 3 SLC19A1 polymorphisms that may be useful biomarkers for RSA risk. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
