ELISA, (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays) are used to quantify specific target levels in various sample types. They typically employ 96-well plates coated with a capture antibody specific to the target protein or another biomolecule. After incubation, a detection antibody binds to a different epitope on the target antigen, forming a sandwich. A substrate is added and produces a signal proportional to the bound analyte. ELISA assays are often preferred over other assays due to their sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and resilience to harsh conditions.
