Other Adhesion Molecules

Adhesion molecules are proteins that bind cells to one another and/or mediate cellular interactions with the extracellular matrix (ECM). Many adhesion molecules fall into distinct subgroups, which include Integrins, Ig superfamily Cell Adhesion Molecules (CAMS), Cadherins, and Lectins. Other adhesion molecules include transmembrane glycoproteins that are involved in such diverse biological processes as neuronal axon tract development (Amigo), leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion (Endogylcan), synaptic differentiation (Neurexin) and regulation of platelet aggregation (Podoplanin).
