ENTPD6 (ectonucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase-6), also known as CD39L2, is a secreted nucleoside phosphohydrolase, which catalyzes the hydrolysis of extracellular nucleotides, such as nucleoside 5'-diphosphates and nucleoside 5'-triphosphates (1). Human ENTPD6 displays a preference for the nucleoside-5’-diphosphates GDP and IDP over CDP and UDP (2). It has a broad tissue distribution, with major expression in the heart. The amino acid sequence of human CD39L2 shares 99%, 88% and 87% identity with that of chimpanzee, mouse and dog, respectively.
