Mouse CRHBP is a 37 kDa, monomeric CRH-binding glycoprotein that is secreted by cells of the rodent adrenal, medulla, cortical neurons and astrocytes, and prolactin positive cells of the pituitary. The mature molecule is 298 amino acids (aa) in length and contains six intrachain disulfide bonds. It binds CRH and CRH-like peptides, either serving as an antagonist for CRH binding to CRH receptor 1, or as a coreceptor for CRH binding to CRH receptor 2. Mature mouse CRHBP shares 94%, 87%, 85% and 80% aa sequence identity with rat, human, canine and bovine CRHBP, respectively.
