Detection of RAR beta/NR1B2 by Western Blot

Western blotting analysis of RAR proteins in Caco-2 cells. (A) Representative immunoblotting images demonstrate the effect of the IC50 dose of ATRA, compounds 4a and 4b, on the protein expression levels of RARs in Caco-2 cells treated for 24 h. (B) Quantification of the tested proteins in Caco-2 cell lysates, with normalization to the beta -actin protein. The expression of all recorded proteins in the control group is set to (“1”), and all data from three separate experiments are the fold change of protein expression to control and shown as mean ± SEM. * p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01 indicates a statistically significant difference from the matching ATRA group. The RAR protein blots were cropped from the original image according to their molecular weights (RAR-alpha was cropped between 50–60 KD, RAR-beta was cropped between 50–60 KD, RAR-gamma was cropped between 50–60 KD and, beta -actin was cropped between 40–50 KD). The expected molecular weights for proteins are RAR-alpha : 60 KD, RAR-beta : 60 KD, RAR-gamma : 58 KD, and beta -actin: 44 KD.
