Detection of Human SMURF1 by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of HepG2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Mouse Anti-Human SMURF1 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB9507) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF018). A specific band was detected for SMURF1 at approximately 75 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 1.
Detection of Human SMURF1 by Simple WesternTM. Simple Western lane view shows lysates of HepG2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line, loaded at 0.2 mg/mL. A specific band was detected for SMURF1 at approximately 82 kDa (as indicated) using 10 µg/mL of Mouse Anti-Human SMURF1 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB9507). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using the 12-230 kDa separation system.

Smurf-1 is a 757 amino acids E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase encoded by the SMURF1 gene. Smurf-1 ubiquitinates receptor regulated SMAD proteins acting as a negative regulator of BMP signaling pathway, and it has been shown to inhibit osteoblast differentiation by targeting Runx2, the master regulator of osteoblast differentiation, for degradation.
