Detection of Human, Mouse, and Rat FABP2/I‑FABP by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of human small intestine tissue, mouse small intestine tissue, and rat small intestine tissue. PVDF membrane was probed with 0.5 µg/mL of Mouse Anti-Human/Mouse/Rat FABP2/I‑FABP Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB30782) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF018). A specific band was detected for FABP2/I‑FABP at approximately 15 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 1.
FABP2/I‑FABP in Human Small Intestine. FABP2/I‑FABP was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human small intestine using Mouse Anti-Human/Mouse/Rat FABP2/I‑FABP Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB30782) at 5 µg/mL for 1 hour at room temperature followed by incubation with the Anti-Mouse IgG VisUCyte™ HRP Polymer Antibody (Catalog # VC001). Tissue was stained using DAB (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm in epithelial cells. View our protocol for IHC Staining with VisUCyte HRP Polymer Detection Reagents.

Intestinal Fatty Acid Binding Protein (FABP2), also known as I-FABP or gFABP is a member of the fatty acid binding protein family of intracellular proteins. FABP2 is only expressed in intestine, and it mediates the absorption and intracellular transport of dietary long-chain fatty acids. Genetic variation of FABP2 is implicated in obesity and Type II diabetes.
