Hydrolases
Hydrolases can be considered as a special class of transferases in which the donor group is transferred to water. The generalized reaction involves the hydrolytic cleavage of C-O, C-N, O-P and C-S bonds. This large group of enzymes is within the E.C. 3 class and also includes esterases, phosphatases, proteases, glycosylases and GTPases.
